Biography
Brian Smith grew up in Melbourne Beach and Palm Bay, Florida, graduating from Melbourne High School in 1992. In December 1993, he joined the United States Navy, enjoying an extremely diverse 26-year military career. Mr. Smith’s special operations occupational specialties include but aren’t limited to weapons and explosives expert, US Navy Diver, Communications and Electronics, Military Static Line and Freefall Jumpmaster, Range Safety Officer, Combat Medic, Naval Special Warfare Patrol Officer, Research and Development, and four Senior Enlisted Advisor tours.
He is a veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, and anti-terrorism operations in Somalia and East Africa. Following his retirement from active duty, he worked as a defense contractor overseeing development of special mission communications systems for US Special Operations Command.
Mr. Smith moved home to Melbourne Beach in 2021 and started a successful pool service business. In January 2024, he felt the Lord’s conviction to apply his passion for science and learning and his never-sit-still mentality as an educator at Bethany Christian School.
