Biography

Katie Fonner was born in Georgia and spent her early childhood near Washington, D.C., before relocating to Florida in 1995. That same year, she was officially adopted by the Touchston family, marking the beginning of her life in Brevard County, where she has now lived for 30 years. Her personal experiences in foster care and overcoming learning delays inspired a deep passion for supporting children facing similar challenges. She is especially driven to advocate for those who often feel unheard.

Although raised in a Christian home, Katie came to a genuine faith in Christ in her early twenties during a particularly difficult season of life. That transformation continues to shape her character and purpose, both personally and professionally.

Her journey at Bethany Christian School began in 2007, where she held her first job and has returned to serve in various roles over the years. In 2020, she paused her psychology studies to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, stepping in to help during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Katie has been married for nearly 12 years and is the proud mother of two children, ages 11 and 15. Whether at home or in the classroom, her work is guided by compassion, advocacy, and a commitment to helping others grow.

Life Verses

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
- Isaiah 43:18–19

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching."
- 1 Timothy 4:12–13

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you as a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’” “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
- Matthew 25:35–40
