Biography
Tashika Martin was born in Petersburg, Virginia, and grew up in Cumberland, Virginia. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as a young child and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. After graduating from high school in 1998, she served honorably on active duty in the United States Army before relocating to Florida.
Tashika's passion for working with children began in 1994 through a summer youth program and grew into a career spanning more than 20 years in early childhood education. Throughout her career, she has served as a VPK teacher, curriculum specialist, lead teacher, and assistant director. From 2012 to 2018, she helped serve programs reaching more than 300 VPK children and oversaw a quality improvement program that achieved a five-star rating during its initial assessment.
After relocating to Brevard County, Tashika continued teaching while also providing in-home services to children with special needs through Helping Hands of Brevard. She returned fully to early childhood education after renewing her professional credentials in 2025 and joined Bethany Christian Preschool in July 2025 as a VPK Teacher. She also serves in the BeforeCare and AfterCare programs.
Tashika believes teaching children requires understanding, compassion, and a heart grounded in God. While she recognizes that teaching can be challenging, she says it has brought her tremendous love, peace, and joy. One of her greatest rewards is watching her students learn, grow, and deepen their knowledge of God. She strives to live by a simple motto of never stopping learning and always putting God first.
Outside of school, Tashika enjoys hydroponic gardening, astrophotography, cybersecurity, and fishing. She is also blessed with four adult children and three grandchildren.
